Temporary Structures & Site Safety

Home / Temporary Structures & Site Safety

Construction site work is a hazardous land-based job where workers are involved in many activities that might expose them to various risks. The job entails many hazardous task and conditions such as working with height, excavation, noise, dust, power tools and equipment. A safe and healthy workplace not only protects workers from injury and illness, it can also lower injury/illness costs, reduce absenteeism and turnover, increase productivity and quality, and raise employee morale.

Side-Walk Shed

Side-Walk Shed are temporary structures built to protect pedestrians or property from falling construction debris.

It is built over a public walkway to protect the pedestrian using it in order to provide a safe and uninterrupted pathway.

Pipe Scaffolding

A Pipe scaffold is a temporary structure erected to support access or working platforms. Scaffolding frames are made to withstand repeated use by personnel and to support the weight of building materials and supplies.

Suspended Scaffold

A hanging scaffold is a scaffold hung from a structure that is static in the vertical plane; it cannot be raised or lowered by any means. Hanging scaffolds can be hung from tubes, wire ropes, ropes or chains etc. Hanging scaffolds are classified as a special duty scaffold. It is used to support working crew.

Needle Beam

A needle-beam scaffold consists of a plank platform resting on two parallel horizontal beams, called needle beams, which are supported by lines from overhead. working level is covered with a platform of planks. Needle-beam scaffolds should be used only for the support of personnel doing light work. They are suitable for use by riveting gangs working on steel structures because of the frequent changes of location necessary and the adaptability of this type of scaffold to different situations.

It is a sloping channel or slide for conveying things to a lower level. It is used for vertical flow of construction material where the conveying distance is very large and time consuming. It provides easy conveying and reduces time and labor.

Roof Protection

Roof safety is a system of preventive and safety measures when performing work and repairs on rooftops. Roof safety should be practiced while on the job to avoid personal injuries and structural damage. Performing roof work exposes workers to risks such as falls, which are the leading cause of death in the construction industry.

It is used as a safety barrier which prevents passage into a dangerous area and is commonly used to mitigate risk. It is provided with safety risk signs to indicate the process of construction work to reduce risk.
